 Michael J. Mandl Executive Vice President 
The Finance & Administration Division encompasses a broad array of business, infrastructure, and strategic functions focused on ensuring that Emory operates effectively in support of its mission. Our task as employees within this division is to make sound financial, managerial, and strategic decisions necessary to advance Emory's vision to be an internationally recognized destination university. Our foundational goal is to support President Wagner and his team, the Board of Trustees, and faculty and students to achieve Emory's long-term strategic initiatives. The Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration oversees several centers of excellence within Emory, including Business Management, Campus Services, Finance and Budget, Human Resources, Internal Audit, Investment Management, and Information Technology. While these areas may appear discrete, they are, in practice, highly cooperative and supportive teams that often overlap in creative ways to optimize Emory's resources. By working as a highly cooperative team, we are able to recognize opportunities for improvement in all that we do. Much of Emory's resource base and decision-making is decentralized to the deans and individual schools. The oversight provided by the Executive Vice President, in addition to having a presence on several University committees, including Ways and Means, and the Strategic Planning Steering Committee, helps to ensure that budgetary, academic, and strategic priorities are realized across the institution In the simplest form, my goals are to provide leadership in support of our mission and strategic priorities, and to enhance the business practices and infrastructure effectively for the multi-billion dollar, world-class institution that we are. We strive to create an environment that fosters energy, commitment, and optimism shared by all, while working together in the best interest of the institution. We have high aspirations.
